What does Malama Pono mean?

Malama: to take care of, protect

Pono: Goodness, righteousness

From the Hawaiian saying, E Mālama Pono, which means to take care of, also until we meet again.

What type of cuisine do you serve?

Pacific Fusion with a focus on fresh seafood. Influenced by flavors of Hawaii, Southeast Asia, Japan, Mexico and California.

Do you have Valet?

Yes. Valet service starts at 5pm and is located in front of our neighboring restaurant Wood & Water.

Do you accept Walk-ins?

Yes. We hold a few high top tables indoors that is sat on a first come first serve basis. For regular dining tables, we strongly recommend making a reservation online.

Why can I only book for 6 people?

Due to the size of our intimate restaurant, we allow parties up to 6 people maximum for the comfort of other diners. It also allows our kitchen and staff to give you the best experience possible.  

Do you have a happy hour?

Yes! We serve our Pau Hana (Happy Hour) menu Tuesday thru Friday from 5 - 6PM.   Please click here for the menu.

Who is your chef?

Chef Mario A. Lopez is our amazing executive chef. Mostly self-taught and inspired by unique flavors, he has also been personally mentored by LA Chef’s Hideo Yamashiro (Shiro Restaurant, Orris), James Richardson (Nook) and Gen Kimura (Sushi Yuzu, Kabosu) . Previously he worked as one half of the culinary team at Commonwealth Restaurant and the Executive Chef at Feu Pho Kitchen.

I have certain food restrictions or allergies, can you accommodate?

Yes, for the most part.  Most common allergies such as nuts, dairy, and gluten can be accommodated with modifications. More specific restrictions such as onion and garlic cannot be accommodated.

are you kid friendly?

We welcome kids of all ages but please be aware that we do not provide high chairs, booster seats, nor kids menus.

Do you serve hard liquor?

No, we are currently beer, wine and Iichiko only.

What is Iichiko?

A shochu (Japanese clear spirit) distilled from barley.  We use it in many of our mixed drinks but also is delicious on the rocks with a little lemon.

Do you have a Corkage?

Yes, 30 dollars per bottle.

Do you sell gift cards?

Yes, for physical gift cards, please come by the restaurant to purchase. We offer E-gift cards as well. Please click here.

Do you offer Delivery?

Yes. Delivery is 6.99 per order within a 5 mile range. When ordering through our website, please click the delivery option.  
We also partner with UberEats as another delivery option.

Do you Cater?

Not at the moment, but we will hopefully in the future!
